Kemp - Brazile - Last Day

Parents-

Tomorrow is our last day. It's early dismissal again (12:15).

Our awards presentation will begin at 8:00am and continue until approximately 10:30am. All kids will receive their completion certificate and kids qualifying for other awards will be presented too. We ask the kids to dress appropriately for the ceremony. They can change once the ceremony is over. Some classes are changing into their class shirts, I'm not too particular - just be comfortable (within the dress code). Not the day for a streaker.

The kids will have pizza and hang out until it's time to line up about 11:30ish. We'll begin the last walk through Kemp at 11:45. Remember that parking is awful, so allow time. There will be no parking available in the bus port.

Remember to get me a self-addressed, stamped envelope for report card and CRCT results. If you don't, everything will be available in the front office this summer.

The kids presented me with incredibly appreciated gifts today. The gift card was very generous and I always like the Bama items. The collection of pictures and notes from the kids was great. I'm afraid that my legacy with them is goofiness. Well, you gotta be good at something and I think that's my niche.

I want to thank Daniella DeFoor for helping our class so much as Room Mom. I appreciate her efforts and making it such an easy year.

Thank you all for entrusting your children to me each day. They are a great group. For some families, these kids are the youngest in the family so I won't be seeing you around Kemp next year. I'll have an eighth grader at Lovinggood, so I'll see some of you there.

Have a safe and happy summer,
Shane Brazile

Kemp - Brazile End of year

Parents -
Remember early dismissal Tuesday and Wednesday (12:15).
This is it!

Can't believe the year is over. Maybe it was all the snow days, but the year seems to have flown by.

I remember how the kids were so overwhelmed back in August. They've grown quite a bit since. I hope you (parents) see the same growth in maturity and responsibility that I see. It should pay dividends next year. When you hear other parents talk about the struggles adjusting, hopefully you can smile knowing your student has adjusted well. They know how to manage their time and resources, or at least they should. :)

Thanks to all of the parents for a smooth year. I appreciate the buy-in to a new way of educating your children. I truly put all I can into making it a worthwhile year. It takes us all to make it successful and I feel as if it's a successful year.

In keeping with the technology theme of the year, I've put together a short video I made for the kids. I'm not sure what impression I leave with the kids. Is it techno-nerd, is it project-crazed teacher, is it the silence loving teacher, or the cartoon version? Whatever it is, my cartoon version takes a turn in my sendoff video.

Thanks again for the support. I ask one thing as we end the year. Please don't call me "Mr. Brazile" when you see me. I understand during the year, because that's how your child refers to me, but I'm much more informal. "Shane" is preferred. If you have another name in mind, I may avoid you. :) (Should I be worried that a grown man has two smiley faces in his email?)

I look forward to hearing great things about your kids.

Thanks,
Shane Brazile

Test scores

Parents-

We received CRCT scores today.  I’m happy to say our class passed the CRCT in each section. They did really well. Considering we all passed the Writing Assessment too, it’s been good to hear the results.

We do not have the individual score sheets to send home yet, just a master list.  Individual score sheets will be sent home with report cards.  If you have not sent in a self-addressed, stamped envelope, please do so asap.

Thanks and have a great weekend!

Shane Brazile

Kemp - Brazile 5/15

Parents –

Tomorrow the kids are presenting their Career Projects to a 4th grade class. Please have them dress as their career if possible (the presentation is at 1 if they want to bring a change of clothes).

Boosterthon donations are due in the morning! Please help us out with getting them all in.

Their Science photo-stories are due tomorrow. They all said they’re finished when I asked this afternoon, so we should be good.

Only a few days left!

Thanks,

Shane Brazile

Kemp - Boosterthon

Parents-

Boosterthon payment envelopes are coming home today. Our class did well and raised quite a bit for our school. The funds raised will help pay for our Science lab and the safety officers. In addition, 10% of all funds turned in by Friday will be given to spend in my classroom. I’m appreciative of the donations as it helps purchase additional instructional materials and books that we otherwise would not have.

If the envelope doesn’t make it home, you can use any envelope – just specify “Boosterthon” on the outside. If there was an email address provided when the pledge was recorded, you will get a link to submit payment online if you choose. Please send in payments by Friday.

Thanks,

Shane Brazile

Kemp Boosterthon

Parents,

The Boosterthon Fun Run for the 2013-2014 is about to wrap up. We hope your students had a blast with this year’s program. The central focus of this year’s character program was FRIENDSHIP. We hope that your children were able to take away a few lasting values with all the exciting things they learned at 'Camp High Five'.

Tonight is our last night of pledging and we need your help.  If you have not had an opportunity to log on to funrun.com to watch some of our character pieces and to give to the school, we invite you to log on tonight. Please help our school by giving a pledge or flat donation.

All funds for this year’s Boosterthon Program are going to support our S.T.E.M program (science, technology, engineering and math) and our traffic officer that helps keep traffic flowing each morning and afternoon. Through the Boosterthon, I receive 10% of what our class raises to help go towards supplies for our classroom.  My goal for our class is to raise $1200.

Here’s how you can help:

·         LOG ON to your student’s website at www.FunRun.com using your student’s access code on the Pledge Book that went home early last week.  Log on to watch the Camp High Five character and music videos, and enter pledge information. If you have lost your child's code, you can click on the help request button on funrun.com.

·

·         GET PLEDGES by connecting your student with sponsors. The new funrun.com has many ways to use social media in the pledging process and pay online. Be sure to capture and record the e-mail address of each sponsor, as they will have an easy opportunity to pay for your student’s pledge by credit card online.

Thank you for supporting our classroom and our school!

Sincerely,

Shane Brazile
