Kemp - Brazile 11/18

Parents –

Progress reports went home today. If you have a question about the grades, feel free to ask. If the kids are submitting work digitally, they're to write their name, date, subject, and assignment name on a piece of paper along with how they submitted the assignment (Office 365, Dropittome, email, flash drive, etc.). If they don't do that step, I don't know where to look to grade it. If it's on a flash drive, they need to give me the flash drive. So, all that to say that if you see a zero, they may have it completed and I just haven't received it.

I've made a section on our home page for class news that will cover any important news, as well as what we're studying each week (http://Brazile.Education/#class) .

Thanksgiving Break next week. Enjoy the family time!

Kemp - Brazile

Parents-

Kids did well at the symphony today. It's nice to have them well behaved when we're away from school.

We have our Changing Nation unit test on Monday for Social Studies. We'll start the Electricity and Magnetism Science unit next week.

I have the Rock Eagle forms on the website, they're due November 10, along with the first payment. Look under "Class Links." Also found there is the Six Flags Read to Succeed reading log. The kids can complete this to earn a free ticket to Six Flags. Those are due by February 5.

Have a safe weekend! Stay dry!

Roll Tide!!

Kemp Brazile

Parents –

Good morning! Here are the highlights of this email:

·        Symphony field trip Friday, we leave at 10:30 and return at 1:30.

·        Rock Eagle permission forms (and first payment of $59) due November 11. Forms Attached and on website.

·        Thanksgiving lunch for 5th is Friday, November 13 from 12:15 until 12:50. Lunch for guests is $3.50.

That covers the important info. In class here's what we're working on:

Reading: Finishing The Giver today, will move to Gathering Blue next. I'll continue to model reading skills while reading and we'll work on skills through our reflections.

Writing: Informational writing, using details to support ideas. Narrative writing, using details.

Math: Finishing dividing with decimals. Start on fractions next week. Kids should be working on IXL at home.

Social Studies: Finishing our Changing Nation unit next week.

Science: Finished Matter unit, will start Electricity and Magnetism next week.

I've encouraged the kids to continually check the grades online. With the large number of graded assignments, I'm entering as quickly as I can. If there's a "0," I do not have the assignment. If they believe they've completed it, they need to see me ASAP so we can find it together. I try to put comments online and/or on their papers so they understand how the work is graded. If it's submitted via Office 365, I've made comments (sometimes just "Good Job" but also grades). To see the comments, click "Review" on Word or "Comments" on PowerPoint to view the comments.

Thanks and please let me know if you have any questions.
