Brazile - Kemp - Question

Parents –

As you may remember, we've been reading Lois Lowry's series The Giver. Recently, a movie version of the first book, The Giver, was released. Our standards in 5th require students to cite information to support their ideas, opinions, or information. I would like to show the movie to the class and then have them compare and contrast the movie to the print version.

The movie is rated PG-13, so I would need permission for each student to view the movie. I'd like to show it on Wednesday, so I would need the permission completed by Tuesday afternoon. I've set up a survey to capture the permissions in one place. Please follow the link below to complete this. Any child not receiving permission will be given an alternate assignment for the writing piece.

I watched the movie over the weekend. While I was upset that some of the movie was different from the book, I did not find anything that I found inappropriate, but I think that's a parental decision.

Thanks for your help,
