Parents -
Good morning! Just want to cover a couple things.
First, not to sound like a Kindergarten teacher, but I'm so proud of you! The first wave of projects usually elicit some anxiety in the parents. The kids seem to be handling it well. We always have growing pains with it. Remember this is usually their first experience (academically) with this level of freedom and responsibility. I want them to feel some pressure, but I want them to problem solve and discover how to work through deadlines. I will get them all to a B level with these first projects (whatever it takes) so they understand the how of completing the projects.
Second, we're starting our next book, Gathering Blue, by Lois Lowry. It's the next book in The Giver series. Some of the kids inquired about getting their own copy. They're welcome to get their own copy whether it's hard copy or on a device. Currently, we only have enough for 23 of our 28 to have a hard copy so they're sharing. We'll try to continue the series with Messenger after this. There will be a lot of sharing with that since I only have a few copies. I will read it aloud to them as it starts to tie the first two books together. Great series and offers a good bit of deep inferences.
Thanks,
Shane Brazile
